What to pack for a surf trip to Morocco: a complete checklist
If you don’t want to end up with a suitcase full of things you’ll never use — and still miss what you actually need — this guide is here to save you time, nerves, and money.
Start with this: what your surf camp provides
Before you start packing, check what your surf camp already provides. Some camps include certain essentials, others don’t — so it’s better to know in advance.

This helps you avoid overpacking or missing something important.
  • shampoo and shower gel
  • toothbrush and toothpaste
  • towels
  • slippers
  • hairdryer
  • beach towels
  • reusable water bottles
  • laundry options

Now let’s get to the main packing list!
Surf and beach essentials
If you’re joining a surf camp, most of the essential equipment is usually provided. At our surf camp in Morocco, we provide:
  • surfboards adapted to your level
  • wetsuits
  • all equipment needed for lessons

So unless you prefer to travel with your own board, you don’t need to bring surf gear.

What you should bring:
  • swimwear (without large decorative details — so it fits comfortably under a wetsuit)
  • a beach towel
  • flip-flops or sandals
  • a hat or cap (a must)
  • sunglasses (a must)
  • strong SPF sunscreen (a must — the sun in Morocco is intense)
  • surf zinc (can also be bought locally)
  • lip balm with SPF
  • a reusable water bottle
  • a beach bag
  • a small pouch or clip to keep your jewellery safe while surfing
Clothing recommendations
Morocco is very welcoming to tourists, and people are friendly and open. At the same time, it’s important to remember that you’re visiting a different culture.

  • swimwear is perfectly fine at the beach
  • in villages and cities, it’s better to cover shoulders and avoid very revealing clothing

It is important to respect local community.

We recommend bringing:
  • comfortable summer clothes (preferably natural fabrics)
  • sneakers or trainers for walking and hiking
  • a small backpack for day trips
  • sportswear (for yoga or light activity)
  • warm layers (hoodie, socks — mornings and evenings can be chilly, especially in winter)
  • slippers or indoor shoes (villas often have stone floors)
  • one nice outfit (you might want it for a dinner or a party)
Personal items
Bring your usual essentials:
  • shampoo / shower gel
  • toothbrush and toothpaste
  • skincare and personal products

At our villa, we provide:
  • bath towels
  • washing machine
  • hairdryer
  • iron
Medication (recommended)
We always have a first aid kit in our cars and at the villa, and pharmacies are easy to find in Morocco.
Still, for peace of mind, it’s a good idea to bring:
  • antibacterial gel (especially useful for eating fruit on the beach)
  • painkillers
  • bruise ointment
  • panthenol (for sunburn)
  • elastic bandage
  • digestive aids
  • plasters / band-aids
  • antiseptic (chlorhexidine or similar)
